Mizoram has received national recognition for its impressive progress in ginger cultivation India, with NITI Aayog officially declaring the state the “Ginger Capital of India.” The decision comes after a year of strong production, major investments, and government-led initiatives to support farmers and the ginger value chain.
Ginger Cultivation India: National Recognition for Mizoram
During a meeting of the Mizoram Agricultural Marketing Board (MAMB), Chief Minister Lalduhoma acknowledged NITI Aayog’s declaration and reviewed this year’s agricultural achievements. Officials said the recognition follows consistent growth in ginger production and a strong push for organic farming across the state.
The announcement also builds on a high-level consultation held in New Delhi on November 24, aimed at bringing investors and Central agencies into Mizoram’s expanding ginger sector. Over 60 investors and several Ministries participated, boosting confidence in ginger cultivation India, especially from the Northeast.
Boost in Organic Farming and Procurement
The Board emphasised safe, high-quality and organic ginger production as its top priority. According to official data, the state procured 3,38,35,182 kg of ginger this year under the support price mechanism, disbursing ₹1,37,72,04,477.50 to farmers.
Officials say this scale of procurement is a key reason behind the recognition and highlights Mizoram’s growing role in ginger cultivation India.
Upcoming Events to Strengthen Ginger Cultivation India
Several new initiatives were announced to help farmers and traders:
-
Ginger Buyer–Seller Meet on December 5–6 to build direct market linkages.
-
New Ginger Processing Unit at Sairang to be inaugurated on January 12, 2026, supporting large-scale processing.
-
Procurement of Rapchung and Tapchhak technologies to boost sliced-dry ginger production under the Handholding Scheme.
These steps aim to expand market access, improve processing capacity, and further strengthen ginger cultivation India.
